AT PUTNAM DENTAL ARTS
You can look good and have a healthy smile! Most people who are unhappy with the appearance of their teeth do not realize the numerous ways that cosmetic dentistry can heal a smile. Cosmetic dentistry can correct crooked teeth; spaces between your teeth; stained or discolored teeth; chipped, broken, or missing teeth; and, “gummy” smiles.
Tooth Whitening — Zoom!
Imagine removing surface stains and having the white smile you had when you were a teenager! Anyone can have the confidence that comes from having a bright, white smile. Tooth whitening with Zoom! is safe, effective, and long-lasting.
The Zoom! Teeth Whitening system is a powerful, in-office procedure that produces fast, dramatic results. Your doctor will apply a specialized gel to your teeth, using a customized tray similar to a mouthpiece. The customized tray is comfortable, allowing you to hold it in place for about an hour. During that time, a specialized light source interacts with the gel to break down even the strongest stains and discolorations. By the end of your appointment, you will have a smile that looks like it did years ago!
There is also a Zoom! take-home whitening kit available. This do-it-yourself process can be completed in a weekend, and while the results are not as dramatic as the in-office procedure, you will still see noticeable, fantastic results. Talk with your dentist for help in deciding which whitening procedure is right for you.
When teeth are missing, your smile undergoes significant changes. Missing teeth can cause you to chew differently and may also cause mouth pain. And, as your remaining teeth work to compensate for the loss, gaps and spaces form that only make the situation worse. A custom-designed, porcelain bridge keeps your smile aligned and your bite functional. Bridges are anchored to existing teeth on either side of the missing tooth. They are semi-permanent (meaning they can only be affixed or removed by a dentist) and are a long-term restorative solution to your damaged smile.
You can erase years of wear and tear with porcelain crowns. After the decay has been removed, our doctors use a tooth-like crown made of porcelain to restore your tooth. Crowns are also used to restore chipped teeth, broken teeth, gaps in teeth, and other damage. Also called “caps,” porcelain crowns mimic natural-looking teeth in both shape and color.
Are you embarrassed about your smile because of decayed, disfigured, or discolored teeth? If so, you may be a good candidate for composite resins, also known as tooth-colored fillings or restorations. When the decay has been removed from the tooth, it is replaced with “filling” material. The new tooth-colored material is bonded to the teeth for a stronger restoration. In the past, amalgam (silver) fillings were placed into the cleaned out portion of the tooth. However, with new advancements in dentistry, you can now have tooth-colored fillings instead of silver fillings, resulting in a longer-lasting, brighter, whiter smile.
You can straighten your teeth without metal braces. Invisalign® is an FDA-approved system that uses clear, removable aligners to incrementally straighten your teeth. There are no uncomfortable brackets or wires, and because you remove the aligners to eat and drink, there are no food restrictions or problems with brushing or flossing.
Invisalign® uses 3D computer imaging to map out your entire treatment plan in advance, allowing you to see what your straightened teeth will look like even before you begin treatment. Then, using the imaging, a series of custom aligners are created that will incrementally move your teeth. You will replace each aligner every two weeks with the next aligner in the sequence. Average treatment time from the initial teeth position to a brilliant, straight smile ranges from 9-15 months. The best part is that most people will never even notice that you are undergoing treatment!
Do you see a lot of your gum tissue when you smile? Many people with “gummy” smiles do not know that there are treatments available to cosmetically enhance the look of your gums. Your doctor can re-contour the appearance of your gum tissue, and with the addition of beautiful porcelain veneers, your gummy smile will disappear, revealing a bright, youthful smile that looks both natural and well-proportioned. The entire process takes just a few visits, and because of advancements in cosmetic techniques, your comfort is assured. Call Putnam Dental Arts, and begin transforming your smile today!
